Job Description
Hudson River Trading is seeking a skilled Market Structure Optimization Engineer to join its new Market Structure Analytics team. This role is based in Austin, TX, and focuses on leveraging data-driven methods to minimize friction in the company's real-time interaction with financial markets. The engineer will play a crucial part in optimizing how HRT connects with various trading venues, directly impacting the performance of HRT’s trading. He will be responsible for analyzing time series network and exchange protocol captures, researching exchange features, automating metric collection, conducting controlled experiments, and communicating findings across teams.
Responsibilities Include: - Analyzing time series network and exchange protocol captures
- Becoming familiar with market details, attending presentations, and liaising with exchange counterparts
- Researching exchange features, capabilities, and architecture
- Automating the collection and visualization of metrics
- Formulating and conducting controlled experiments
- Communicating ideas, requirements, and results across teams
- Improving fill rate and reducing cancel-reject responses
- Investigating and reporting details of various latency-sensitive exchanges
Requirements: - A degree in Data Analytics or a related field
- Ability to collect and interpret network and/or financial market data
- Professional experience in latency reduction, preferably in finance
- Basic understanding of proprietary trading and exchange technologies
- Proficiency in data analytics, including statistics, data visualization, and large data sets
- Basic understanding of TCP and UDP network protocols
- Experience with Python and relevant data libraries (Pandas, Numpy/Scipy)
- Familiarity with modern computer systems and networks
- Experience with real time exchange market data and order entry a plus
