Elasticsearch - Senior Software Developer (Performance Team)

Job Description

Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join its Elasticsearch Performance team. The successful candidate will focus on architecting and developing automated tooling for benchmarking Elasticsearch ingest and search workloads at scale in the cloud. This role involves designing and building tools, defining best practices for performance benchmarking, developing methodologies for optimal instance type selection, devising solutions for benchmarking disparate use cases, and investigating performance escalations.

• Participate in the design and building of tooling and automated processes for provisioning and execution of Elasticsearch performance benchmarking jobs at scale.
• Define best practices, methodologies, and guidelines for performance benchmarking of Elasticsearch servicing development teams and solution architects.
• Develop methodologies and processes for benchmarking Elasticsearch to determine the optimal price-performant instance type selection across Cloud Service providers.
• Devise solutions for benchmarking disparate use cases and workloads for Elasticsearch stateful and serverless products at scale.
• Architect solutions for performance benchmarking of evolving and  key product features of Elasticsearch.
• Investigate and assist in resolving performance escalations and capacity planning issues as required.

The role requires:

• Proficiency in Python, Java, and Linux shell scripting (5+ years).
• Familiarity with Linux system-level performance measurement and tooling.
• Knowledge of cloud orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud architectures and service models across multiple cloud service providers.
• Ability to assess tradeoffs from performance and deployment perspectives.
• Ability to multitask and collaborate with global team members.
