Elasticsearch - Senior Software Engineer - Engineering Productivity, CI/CD

Job Description

Elastic is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join its Elasticsearch Delivery team. This role is crucial for enabling Elasticsearch developers to be productive and efficient. The engineer will ensure the stability of build and continuous integration environments and will develop the testing infrastructure, tooling, and automation to support Elasticsearch development, quality assurance, and developer workflows.

The position involves contributing to impactful projects that evolve developer workflows, shape build and CI environments, design and build tooling and automation, drive strategy for cloud deployments, and solve performance and concurrency issues. The engineer will collaborate openly with the Elasticsearch team, Elastic users, and supporting open-source projects.

Requirements:

• Experience contributing to and managing large Java codebases.
• Knowledge of CI/CD systems and practices (Buildkite, Argo CD, GitOps etc).
• Knowledge of Java build tools (Gradle, Maven, Bazel etc), with a strong preference for Gradle experience.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience of container runtimes (e.g. Docker) and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes).
• A high level of autonomy.
