Job Description
Canonical, a leading open source software provider, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Ubuntu Engineering Server Team. This is a fully remote role. The successful candidate will maintain and package a variety of software for Ubuntu Server, a platform used globally. The role involves collaborating within a distributed team, fostering a seamless user experience, and shaping the future of Ubuntu.
The Senior Software Engineer will own the maintenance of Ubuntu Server packages, including traditional server workloads, virtualization and containers, package management, and language runtimes. They will also evaluate contributions from other engineers and collaborate with the Ubuntu and Debian communities.

Role involves:
- Collaborating proactively within a distributed team

Requirements:
- Interest or experience in open source maintenance or contributions
- Able to replay complex workloads and systems
- Experience in packaging in one or more ecosystems
- Experience using and creating containers and virtual machines
- Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree(or any higher) or equivalent professional experience (5+ years of professional experience)
