Job Description
Canonical is seeking an Embedded & Desktop Linux Systems Engineer to optimize Ubuntu for the latest silicon. This globally remote role involves working across the full Linux stack, from kernel through GUI, to deliver solutions for PC and IoT technologies. Engineers will collaborate with silicon company specialists to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements.
What this role involves:
- Designing and implementing Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware.
- Collaborating with partners to optimize Ubuntu on their platforms.
- Providing technical leadership on customer engagements involving system architectures from cloud to edge.
- Helping customers integrate apps, SDKs, build device OS images, and optimize applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop and Server.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
- Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto).
- Experience working with open source communities and licenses.
- Experience working with C, C++.
- Ability to work in a globally distributed team.
