Canonical is seeking an Engineering Director, Devices Software Engineering, to lead the strategy and implementation of next-generation Ubuntu hardware enablement quality. This role involves driving the transformation of Linux certification in partnership with other engineering directors. The ideal candidate will deliver long-term OS stability on PC, server, and IoT hardware. Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source. Role Involves:
- Managing, mentoring, and growing software engineering teams.
- Leading OEM QA Engineering team activities.
- Improving automated test capabilities.
- Executing automated and manual testing of Ubuntu Desktop and Core.
- Overseeing continuous improvement projects.
- Preparing time estimates and schedules for testing activities.
- Working with development teams to build efficient automated testing.
- Hiring staff-level engineers and maintaining Canonical culture.
- Representing the product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject.
- Outstanding Linux-based software engineering track record.
- Leadership and a track record of developing people.
- Management experience and the confidence to set high expectations.
- Passion for technology.
- Professional written and spoken English.
- Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and accountability.
