Engineering Director, Devices Software Engineering

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Director, Devices Software Engineering, to lead the strategy and implementation of next-generation Ubuntu hardware enablement quality. This role involves driving the transformation of Linux certification in partnership with other engineering directors. The ideal candidate will deliver long-term OS stability on PC, server, and IoT hardware. Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source. Role Involves:

• Managing, mentoring, and growing software engineering teams.
• Leading OEM QA Engineering team activities.
• Improving automated test capabilities.
• Executing automated and manual testing of Ubuntu Desktop and Core.
• Overseeing continuous improvement projects.
• Preparing time estimates and schedules for testing activities.
• Working with development teams to build efficient automated testing.
• Hiring staff-level engineers and maintaining Canonical culture.
• Representing the product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.

Requirements:

• Exceptional academic track record.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject.
• Outstanding Linux-based software engineering track record.
• Leadership and a track record of developing people.
• Management experience and the confidence to set high expectations.
• Passion for technology.
• Professional written and spoken English.
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and accountability.
