Canonical is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead and manage a software engineering team focused on OEM enablement projects. This role is based in Taipei, Taiwan, and involves working with tier-1 OEM and ODM customers to pre-load Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Core.

The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of quality products, managing team members, and coordinating with various teams within Canonical. The role requires excellent time management, deep knowledge of the Linux system, and strong communication skills.

Role involves:

  • Recruiting, motivating, mentoring, and enabling team members
  • Setting goals and prioritizing tasks
  • Coordinating with project managers, HWE, QA, and certification management
  • Monitoring projects from kickoff to post-mortem
  • Communicating and resolving technical challenges with OEMs, ODMs, SiPs, IHVs
  • Collaborating with product engineering teams
  • Providing leadership for methodologies, strategies, standards, tools, and best practices

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in STEM, preferably computer science or software engineering
  • Proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian
  • Experience with management responsibilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team
  • Strong English and Chinese language communication skills
