Canonical is seeking a Community Engineer to champion the open-source ecosystem. This role involves supporting community leaders, ensuring efficient processes, and integrating community plans with Canonical's goals.

The Community Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and executing initiatives that foster a thriving community. The candidate will support community initiatives with technical and organizational skills, working closely with developers. The role involves encouraging new technical projects, representing community interests to Canonical teams, and leading multi-disciplinary programs.

Canonical's Community team attends conferences and expos, and talks about technical community projects and their development processes.

Role involves:

  • Writing high-quality content to promote and support community initiatives.
  • Discussing ideas and collaborating with global team.
  • Nurturing community contributions to Ubuntu.
  • Engaging with the Ubuntu community through various platforms.
  • Representing Ubuntu at events and conferences.
  • Supporting Canonical teams' engagement into the open source ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • Love for technology and collaboration with brilliant people.
  • Curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Passion for soft skills, enterprise, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation.
  • Experience with developer tools and open source projects.
  • Clear public record of accomplishments (talks, blog posts, GitHub, X, etc.).
  • Experience with Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, testing and QA, package management, or container technology.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with open source communities.
  • Program management skills with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
