The Engineering Manager role at Canonical involves leading a team of engineers focused on Ubuntu security. The role directly impacts the security of millions of users worldwide by addressing emerging threats and developing security measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and developing a team of engineers.
  • Providing technical guidance on vulnerability remediation.
  • Driving the development of new security engineering projects.
  • Working with upstream open source projects.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and offering career development feedback.
  • Implementing disciplined engineering processes.
  • Representing the team and product to stakeholders.
  • Planning and managing progress on agreed goals and projects.
  • Collaborating with other leaders as part of the security engineering leadership team.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience in developing and growing people.
  • Organized with the ability to deliver timely results.
  • Solid background in software development.
  • Mastery in any programming language (Go, Java, C, Python, ...).
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software and application security.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Ability to travel twice a year.
