Job Description
Canonical is seeking an Alliances Field Engineer to support their partners in adopting open-source products and technologies. The Alliances Field Engineer plays a crucial role in helping global companies embrace cloud infrastructure, cloud native operations, and open source applications.The position is home-based and available worldwide.
Canonical field engineers work with Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps, and more. As an Alliances Field Engineer, they are expected to provide well-informed answers regarding Canonical offerings.
What this role involves:
- Understanding Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments.
- Architecting cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark.
- Integrating popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX
- Helping partners offer joint solutions using Canonical’s technologies on public clouds and in data centers.
- Designing joint Reference Architectures and performing technical validations with partners.
- Preparing and running onboarding sessions and workshops with partner teams.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation.
- Experience designing and implementing solutions on public or private clouds.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash, with troubleshooting skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High motivation and ability to multitask.
- Interest in customer-facing engagement.
- Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju, and Snaps.
- Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
