Job Description

Canonical, a leading provider of open-source software, is seeking a Junior Cloud Field Engineer to assist global companies in adopting private cloud infrastructure, Linux, cloud-native operations, and open-source applications. This role involves applying expert insights to solve real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Linux Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and related technologies.

The candidate will work as part of Canonical's team, which functions as Linux and cloud solutions architects for customers, designing private and public cloud solutions tailored to their workload requirements. They also serve as cloud consultants, deploying, testing, and transitioning solutions to support or managed services teams. Furthermore, they contribute as software engineers, utilizing Python to develop Kubernetes operators and Linux open-source infrastructure-as-code.

Role involves:

  • Working across the entire Linux stack
  • Architecting cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Coaching and developing colleagues
  • Contributing to a collaborative engineering culture

Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.)
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and networking
  • Intermediate to advanced Python programming skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (English)
  • Great organisational skills
