Job Description
Canonical is seeking a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to lead a high-performance team focused on devops and gitops engineering. This role combines operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will be a Linux and operations expert with proven management experience.
The Information Systems team at Canonical supports over 60 million Ubuntu users and is responsible for pioneering new approaches to large-scale IS, shaping Canonical's managed application service offerings and driving model-driven operations.
This is a remote position based in the APAC region.
Role Involves:
- Leading the team in daily agile devops practices
- Representing the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
- Organizing, coordinating, and driving internal projects
- Mentoring engineers to improve their skills
- Implementing structured engineering and operations processes
- Ensuring proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
- Working to meet service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe
- Delivering quality managed services in a consistent, timely manner
Requirements:
- Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
- Proven experience of software delivery using infrastructure as code
- Proven experience managing devops teams for SAAS or similar offerings
- Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
- Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
- Experience with cloud topologies and technologies
- Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
