Job Description
Canonical is seeking a Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join its Information Systems (IS) team. The candidate will be responsible for driving operations automation, utilizing infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and Canonical's software operation automation products. The Engineer will be part of global SRE team, supporting production services for over 60 million Ubuntu users.
Responsibilities:
- Developing infrastructure as code to increase automation and improve IaC processes.
- Automating software operations for re-usability and consistency across clouds.
- Improving the resilience and scalability of Canonical's cloud and container portfolio.
- Maintaining operational responsibility for Canonical’s core services, networks, and infrastructure.
- Setting up, maintaining and using observability tools.
- Collaborating with development teams to design service architecture, documentation, playbooks, policies and operational procedures
- Sharing experience with team members.
- Taking final responsibility for time-critical escalations.
Requirements:
- Deep experience in defining operations in code.
- Strong modern engineering background.
- Python software development experience.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking.
- Affinity with various forms of Linux storage.
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
- Clear and effective communication skills in English.
- Motivated and able to troubleshoot from kernel to web.
