Job Description
Canonical is seeking a Dedicated Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer to join their team. Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, with Ubuntu being a widely used platform for enterprise initiatives. This role is home-based in Singapore and involves providing technical support to customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products.
The engineer will be responsible for delivering an outstanding technical support experience, owning and managing cases from qualification to resolution. They will need to prioritize customer issues, learn about new products and technologies, and participate in training sessions and company events.
Responsibilities include:
- Investigating issues reported by customers
- Resolving complex customer problems related to Canonical’s portfolio of products
- Ensuring each support case is handled according to the Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Engaging directly with customers via phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions
- Participating in a regular weekend working rotation
- Contributing to and maintaining knowledge base articles
- Understanding the Ubuntu development process
Requirements:
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
- Exceptional academic track record
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or compelling alternative narrative
- Experience with Linux troubleshooting
- Experience with Linux integration with other environments
- Ability to navigate stack traces and logs
- Solid understanding of OS and Application level bugs
- Ability to learn quickly and handle pressure
- Programming fundamentals in any language
- Extensive Customer support experience
