Quantitative Research Intern

Job Description

IMC is seeking a Quantitative Research Intern to join their team in Sydney, Australia. This internship offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in quantitative research, supported by structured learning and mentorship from senior IMC employees. The intern will work at the intersection of data science, financial markets, and algorithmic trading, tackling real-world challenges that drive IMC's trading strategies.

Responsibilities include:

• Participating in an intensive training program covering trading concepts, options theory, statistical modelling, and machine learning techniques.
• Tackling a meaningful research challenge by designing new predictive models, optimising existing strategies, or leveraging alternative data.
• Exploring large financial and market datasets, identifying patterns, and developing quantitative models.
• Collaborating with traders, researchers, and engineers.
• Presenting findings through reports and presentations.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a highly quantitative field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in programming, preferably in Python.
• Curious and driven, with a passion for learning and innovating.
• Excellent communication skills.
