Head of Compliance & Data Protection at FREENOW

FREENOW is seeking a Head of Compliance and Data Protection to lead and oversee compliance and data protection efforts across multiple European markets. This role requires a blend of legal expertise, business acumen, and risk management skills. The Head of Compliance will ensure operations comply with GDPR, CSRD, AI Act, DSA, and other industry regulations.

The Head of Compliance will work closely with leadership, product, tech, operations, and external stakeholders to embed a strong compliance culture while supporting the business model. This role involves ensuring compliance with data protection laws, monitoring and enhancing the Compliance Management System, staying ahead of regulatory changes, advising senior leadership on compliance risks, developing and implementing policies and internal controls, leading audits and investigations, acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, designing and delivering training programs, reporting on compliance issues, and collaborating cross-functionally.

Role Involves:

• Ensuring compliance with data protection laws and corporate compliance regulations.
• Monitoring, enhancing, and developing the Compliance Management System (CMS).
• Staying ahead of regulatory changes (e.g., GDPR, CSRD, AI Act, DSA) and assessing their impact.
• Advising senior leadership on compliance risks and providing strategic solutions.
• Developing and implementing policies, internal controls, and best practices.
• Leading audits, risk assessments, and investigations.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities.
• Designing and delivering training programs.
• Reporting on data protection and compliance issues.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with tech, product, people, and information security teams.
• Leading and mentoring the compliance and data protection team.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in compliance and data protection leadership.
• Deep knowledge of European compliance frameworks, including GDPR, CSRD, AI Act, and DSA.
• Proven experience in overseeing compliance and data protection across multiple markets.
• Strong investigative and analytical skills.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Hands-on approach and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively.
• Fluency in English and German is required; an additional European language is a strong advantage.
