Job Description
Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of systems to predict and remediate challenges in manufacturing customers’ parts. This role involves combining ML model predictions, part geometry information, and customer information to predict manufacturing cost and find partners to manufacture parts successfully.
The Principal Software Engineer's responsibilities include:
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Actively coding, troubleshooting, creating documentation and technical diagrams.
- Teaching & Mentorship: Serve as a technical mentor to engineers across the organization.
- Code Review: Perform code reviews and mentor others on best practices in ML Engineering.
- Operational Excellence: Guarantee the delivery of superior infrastructure and software.
- Collaborative Strategy: Forge strong partnerships with product managers, data scientists, and company leadership.
- Guide Innovation: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
The requirements for this role are:
- At least 8 years of experience in software engineering or similar technical roles.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, but an advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in software engineering best practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes).
- Experience designing, building, and managing distributed computing systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR)
