Principal Software Engineer

Job Description

Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join its quoting & pricing organization. This individual will guide software design for a team of around 25 engineers and report to the VP of Engineering. The Principal Software Engineer will contribute to building reliable, high-performance, usable, and secure solutions while solving complex business problems.

Responsibilities:

• Hands-On Technical Leadership: Actively coding and troubleshooting.
• Teaching & Mentorship: Mentor and guide engineers across the organization.
• Code Review: Perform code reviews.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure the delivery of superior software.
• Collaborative Strategy: Forge strong partnerships with product managers, designers, and company leadership.
• Guide Innovation: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

Requirements:

• At least 8 years of experience in software development.
• Experience with a marketplace product is highly desired.
• Strong technical expertise in REST API design and implementation, Python, Frontend web technologies including HTML/DOM/CSS, React, and Typescript.
• Experience with cloud hosting services, especially AWS.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes) and Rust.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent leadership, execution, and communication skills.
• A US person (citizen or green card holder)
