Spektrum is seeking a Legal Advisor to support NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) exercises in Stavanger, Norway. The Legal Advisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the realism and legal accuracy of these exercises, providing expertise on international law and national legal frameworks. The JWC is focused on improving the Alliance's operational capabilities through training and exercises. It is responsible for Doctrine Development Contributing to the development and refinement of NATO doctrines and concepts. Role involves:
- Providing subject matter expertise in strategic legal issues.
- Ensuring the training audience is exposed to a realistic and coherent national legal framework.
- Acting as the focal point for all strategic legal matters pertaining to the affected nation.
- Coordinating legal matters with political and military representatives.
- Supporting issues around the protection of civilians (POC), IHL, Security Council Resolutions, and law enforcement.
- Reviewing/fixing MoUs / Technical Agreements on a range of issues (ranging from cybersecurity to detention).
- Advising and assisting, as needed, e.g., supporting advisers on specific legal issues (police, gender, cultural, heritage etc.).
- Demonstrated 3 years’ experience in influencing national policy making at strategic level in the field of International Law.
- Demonstrated 3 years’ experience in briefing senior leaders/decision makers at the governance level in a National or Multinational environment.
- Demonstrated 3 years’ experience in support of Exercise Planning and Execution on NATO Operational level (or at equivalent level in other organizations)
- A Master’s Degree in International Law.
- Business English proficiency.
- Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance.
- Travel costs covered by Spektrum.
- Remote work may be requested on an ADHOC per requirement basis.
