Smartly is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Enigma team in Helsinki, Finland. The Software Engineer will play a key role in developing scalable, efficient Billing Engine and helping solve some of the complex challenges in the SaaS space. The Enigma team is part of Smartly’s Infrastructure Group, focusing on Identity and Access Management (IAM) and optimizing Billing operations.

The Software Engineer will collaborate across teams to deliver impactful solutions that drive business success and improve the customer experience.

Role involves:

  • Writing impactful code in Ruby and Ruby on Rails for the Billing Engine.
  • Building and maintaining APIs for backend and frontend integration.
  • Designing and implementing new services.
  • Optimizing existing systems.
  • Collaborating with product managers and infrastructure engineers.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience building scalable backend solutions with Ruby (NodeJS/TypeScript experience is a plus!).
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to create scalable solutions.
  • Strong experience in backend development with curiosity for frontend technologies.
  • Fluency in English with excellent communication skills.
  • Residency in Finland.
  • Willingness to work from Helsinki office three days a week.
