SurveyMonkey is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join their global team in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, automating, scaling, and optimizing the company's data store infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless operations and delivering top-notch results to SurveyMonkey's customers.Role involves:
- Maintaining, configuring, tuning, and monitoring databases and search infrastructure.
- Troubleshooting issues across the stack (hardware, software, and network).
- Designing and building automation & tooling for database operation.
- Documenting administration and response procedures.
- Training and mentoring other data infrastructure engineers.
- Participating in the on-call rotation.
- Partnering with engineering teams to improve data infrastructure usage.
- Experience within a database engineering team in complex environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, open-source and cloud-native DBs.
- Operational experience with AWS OpenSearch (or ElasticSearch).
- Experience managing production workloads in the cloud, preferably in AWS.
- Experience handling data compliance regulations and security requirements.
- Scripting (Python, Bash, Powershell) and Infrastructure as Code experience.
