Senior Systems Engineer - Cloud Solutions Team

Job Description

SurveyMonkey is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their Cloud Solutions Team in Bengaluru. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, engineering, and maintaining SurveyMonkey's Cloud, Messaging, and Observability Platform within a multi-tenant AWS environment. This role involves building world-class infrastructure, solving complex problems at scale, and mentoring other engineers.Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and operate AWS environments at scale.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, DevOps, and continuous integration/delivery.
• Support and maintain AWS services, such as EKS.
• Write libraries and APIs for monitoring, logging, and event-processing systems.
• Improve observability systems to monitor site stability and performance.
• Support other teams on new features and services.
• Serve as a technical mentor.
• Participate in on-call rotation.

Requirements:

• 5-8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• 5+ years of production experience with AWS (EKS, EC2, IAM, Kafka, Redis, Memcache, Cloudwatch).
• Extensive experience leading design sessions and evolving well-architected environments in AWS at scale.
• Extensive experience with Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, scripting (Bash/Python/Yaml), and helm.
• Experience with Splunk, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, or tools like New Relic, Datadog, or Grafana/Prometheus.
• Experience with metrics and logging libraries and aggregators, data analysis and visualization tools (Splunk and Otel).
• Experience instrumenting Python and Node.js applications.
• Experience with GitOps and tools like ArgoCD/fluxcd.
• Interest in Instrumentation and Optimization of Kubernetes Clusters
• Ability to listen and partner to understand requirements, troubleshoot problems or promote the adoption of platforms
• Experience with GitHub/GitHub Actions
• Preferably experience with secrets management, for example Hashicorp Vault
• Preferably experience in an agile environment and JIRA
