Senior Machine Learning Manager - Ads Retrieval

Reddit is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Manager to lead and expand the Ads Retrieval team. This role involves combining ML technical skills, leadership, and strategic vision to develop retrieval solutions that adapt to Reddit’s growth. The manager will oversee the development of models and infrastructure impacting revenue, user satisfaction, and advertiser outcomes. This is a leadership opportunity for someone passionate about ML, information retrieval, and marketplace systems.

The Ads Retrieval team identifies relevant ads from a large candidate pool, ensuring a strong supply of ad candidates for downstream ranking. The systems support ad indexing, querying, and candidate sourcing, with ML models ensuring relevant ad retrieval.

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the roadmap for Reddit’s ads retrieval systems.
• Lead the design and development of ML models for large-scale retrieval.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse and inclusive team.
• Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Backend Engineers, and leadership.
• Champion system reliability, model quality, and code maintainability.

Requirements:

• Deep experience developing large-scale ML systems in production.
• Strong knowledge of early-stage ad ranking, embedding techniques, and candidate sourcing.
• Familiarity with auction systems, advertiser KPIs, or ad quality measurement.
• Strong proficiency in TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience managing multiple ML teams.
