Senior Software Engineer, Media Infrastructure

Job Description

Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Media Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and designing innovative solutions to scaling Reddit's platform, building API projects, and mentoring junior engineers. This role focuses on optimizing Reddit’s media experience, impacting millions of users worldwide.

Reddit is a community-driven platform where users submit, vote, and comment on various topics. With over 100,000 active communities and millions of daily active users, Reddit stands as a significant source of information on the internet.

Role involves:

• Developing and designing innovative solutions to scaling Reddit.
• Building platform API projects that scale to the rest of the organization.
• Mentoring and coaching more junior engineers on your direct team to achieve our mission.
• Building, delivering, and operating services that scale to hundreds of thousands of transactions per second at 5+ 9’s of availability.
• Optimizing Reddit’s media experience for hundreds of millions of users across the world.

Requirements:

• Software development experience in Golang or Python.
• 5+ years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
• Media delivery expertise from back end systems to the user.
• Experience optimizing media performance, scalability, and delivery by improving different stages of the stack.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with API platform service architectures.
• History of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
