Staff Software Engineer, Media Infrastructure

Job Description

Reddit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Media Infrastructure team. This role is located in Seattle, WA. The Staff Engineer will act as a technical coach and mentor, using their expertise to maintain system uptime and performance. They will collaborate with others to develop a roadmap that meets the needs of Reddit's growing engineering organization.

This engineer will build and scale features and services to create real-time experiences and connections. The role offers the opportunity to directly impact hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and design innovative solutions for scaling Reddit
• Build platform API projects for the organization
• Mentor junior engineers on the team
• Build, deliver, and operate services that scale to hundreds of thousands of transactions per second
• Optimize Reddit’s media experience for users worldwide

Requirements:

• Software development experience in Golang or Python
• 10+ years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems
• Media delivery expertise, including experience with media quality of experience metrics
• Working knowledge of CDN technologies (Fastly, Cloudfare, Cloudfront)
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with API platform service architectures
• History of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
