The engineer will contribute to scaling systems like MySQL and ElasticSearch, and optimizing the performance of Rails and Python monoliths. The role involves collaborating with domain experts, owning infrastructure aspects, and improving observability. The ideal candidate values agility, simplicity, scalability, and uptime.
  • Collaborating with domain experts to shape our technical direction and infrastructure.
  • Owning aspects of our infrastructure and executing on high-impact projects.
  • Writing application code, automating systems, and improving observability.
  • Tuning datastores used in production, test, and development.
  • Contributing to all phases of software development from ideation to implementation.
  • Playing an active role in the hiring, mentoring, and career development of other engineers.
  • 8+ years of experience in a production environment.
  • Expertise in backend technologies such as MySQL, Elasticsearch, Memcached, as well as Linux.
  • Experience scaling a SaaS product.
  • Proficiency with standard software engineering methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of modern web applications and distributed systems.
