Intercom is seeking a Senior Product Engineer, AI to join their AI Group. This individual will play a crucial role in building Intercom’s AI-powered products. The role involves close collaboration with ML Scientists and product teams to define new ML features, research algorithms and technologies, and rapidly prototype solutions.

The Senior Product Engineer will contribute to shaping AI-powered product experiences for customers and ensure the robustness and scalability of AI systems. They will also actively participate in hiring, mentoring, and the career development of other engineers to enhance technical standards across Intercom. The company values a hybrid working environment, requiring employees to be in the office at least two days a week to promote collaboration and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Build systems for Intercom’s AI products, using the ML Python tech stack and, occasionally, the Rails app.
  • Collaborate with ML Scientists to bring proof-of-concept code to production.
  • Partner with product teams to enhance AI-powered product experiences.
  • Contribute to software development phases, including ideation, prototyping, and implementation.
  • Participate in hiring, mentoring, and career development of other engineers.
  • Elevate technical standards, performance, and reliability within the group and Intercom.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in shipping high-quality products.
  • Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language (e.g., Ruby, Python, Javascript).
  • Strong technical fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
  • BSc in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, or related discipline.
