Job Description

Opendoor is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their Payroll and Equity team in Chennai. The role requires the candidate to work in the office at least 3 days a week.

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, performing payroll review functions, auditing and resolving payroll discrepancies, processing US payroll on a semi-monthly basis, and performing audits of employee records to ensure tax compliance.

What this role involves:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Performing payroll review functions as needed.
  • Auditing, researching and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Processing hourly and salary US payroll on a semi-monthly payroll cycle.
  • Performing audits of employee records to ensure tax compliance.
  • Reviewing and resolving payroll tax compliance notices.
  • Researching payroll tax requirements as the Company expands to new states.
  • Setting up withholding and SUl accounts with the appropriate agencies as needed.
  • Staying up-to-date with Workday releases and support Workday configuration updates.
  • Auditing and balancing quarter end and year end wages and W2 box configuration to ensure accuracy before finalizing W2 filing.
  • Collaborating with other team members and other departments to identify and drive process improvements. Including testing of system enhancements.
  • Providing excellent customer service to our employees and answer payroll related questions timely.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
  • Maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of Payroll/HR files, records, and documentation.
  • Maintaining participant information in the E*Trade system.
  • Running weekly and ad hoc reports for participants and other stakeholders upon request.
  • Assisting with trade clearance, 10b5-1 plan reviews, and participant messages during open trading windows.
  • Assisting with payroll transactions related to stock exercises, ESPP purchases, and RSU vestings as needed.
  • Performing other payroll and stock related duties and projects as needed.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate documentation of payroll and month end processing to remain in compliance with our SOX procedures and controls.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant payroll experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient Microsoft Office, Gmail, G (Google) Suite preferred (sheets, forms and docs)
  • Workday HCM, Workday Payroll system knowledge preferred
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Open to change and willing to learn new skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in multiple systems
