Algo Engineer at Via

Via is seeking an Algo Engineer to join its R&D center in Tel Aviv. In this role, the individual will be part of the Algo Engineering group, responsible for the infrastructure and engineering that supports various Via algorithms running in production. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of software engineering methodologies and modern infrastructure tools.

The Algo Engineer will maintain and improve current algo infrastructure, as well as develop new technical products and systems. Via is looking for a developer that enjoys working on large-scale cloud infrastructure systems in an algorithms-oriented environment.

What this role involves:

• Take full ownership of large scale cloud-based infrastructure and systems
• Develop and maintain multiple mission critical services
• Immediate effect over Via passengers and clients around the world, like making our booking application respond to users significantly faster
• Work in close collaboration with devops teams and algorithms developers and researchers

Requirements:

• B.Sc. in Computer Science / Software engineering / Mathematics / similar field
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on industry experience in backend development (Python)
• Experience in devops in cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes etc.) - significant advantage
• M.Sc. in Computer Science / Software engineering / similar field - significant advantage
• Experience in architecture and maintaining cloud systems - significant advantage
• Have a solid background in software engineering methodologies, such as git, CI/CD
• Fast learner: you can quickly master concepts, disciplines and methods
• Team player: you work well with people, as well as by yourself
• Pragmatic: you know how to deconstruct a problem into few smaller problems
• Concise: you get stuff done, in a simple, elegant way.
