Senior Backend Engineer at Via

Via seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to join their R&D center in Tel Aviv. The role involves contributing to the scalability, reliability, and production quality of Via’s infrastructure and software. The engineer will develop cloud-based tools, empowering operators and drivers to manage shared rides efficiently. Via is using technology to transform transportation around the world.

What the role involves:

• Designing and developing scalable, reliable, and efficient systems
• Establishing infrastructure standards, focusing on observability
• Designing and implementing centralized infrastructure and data pipelines
• Developing infrastructure libraries for microservices
• Creating and maintaining self-service tools for CI/CD automation
• Developing a comprehensive understanding of Via’s applications and architecture
• Collaborating as a team player with a solution-oriented mindset
• Driving scalability efforts and taking ownership of project timelines

Requirements:

• BSc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
• 4+ years in backend/full-stack development with object-oriented languages
• 2+ years with cloud-based deployments (Preferably AWS)
• 2+ years with Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience managing microservices lifecycle in large-scale production environments
• Proficiency in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Experience in relational/NoSQL databases desirable
• Experience with Python and Go desirable
• Ability to multitask and adapt to new technologies
• Team player with excellent communication skills
