Charles River Associates (CRA) is seeking a Competition Economist to join their Europe Competition practice in Paris. The role involves providing economic advice on competition policy and regulation to firms and legal advisors in various competition proceedings.

The candidate will assist Vice Presidents and senior staff by providing conceptual and practical input to competition case work. This position offers the opportunity to work on significant competition cases in Europe.


Role Involves:
  • Identifying and conceptualizing issues.
  • Specifying rigorous economic models to analyze market issues and data.
  • Undertaking statistical and econometric estimation.
  • Managing the work of research associate staff and colleagues.
  • Assisting in the development and presentation of client deliverables.
  • Acting as a contact for lawyers and other industry or government clients.
  • Programming, building models, and performing regression analyses.
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions.
  • Participating in practice-building activities.

Requirements:
  • Educational qualifications vary by position (MSc/MPhil or PhD/DPhil in economics).
  • Strong foundation in microeconomics.
  • Specialization in industrial organization or statistics/econometrics preferred.
  • Relevant professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority.
  • Fluency in English and French, additional fluency in Dutch and/or German desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition policy, and quantitative analysis methods.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
