Senior Associate (European Competition practice) at Charles River Associates

Charles River Associates (CRA) is seeking a Senior Associate to join its European Competition practice in Brussels. The role involves providing conceptual and practical input to competition case work, working on significant competition cases in Europe.

The Senior Associate will work alongside Vice Presidents and other senior staff, playing a key role in shaping cases related to competition policy and regulation.

• Identifying and conceptualising issues.
• Specifying rigorous economic models to analyse market issues and data.
• Undertaking statistical and econometric estimation.
• Managing the work of research associate staff and colleagues.
• Assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables.
• Act as a primary point of contact for lawyers and other industry or government clients.
• Programming, building models and/or performing regression analyses in statistical analysis programs.
• Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions.
• Contributing to practice-building activities.

• PhD/DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions (or MSc/MPhil with strong academic achievement).
• Up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority strongly preferred (or 5-7 years for candidates without a PhD/DPhil).
• Fluency in English, additional fluency in Dutch, French, and/or German desirable.
• Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition/regulatory authorities, competition policy and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
• Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills.
