Staff Software Engineer - Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector - Sweden at Grafana Labs

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector team. The Observability department focuses on providing tools to instrument code, ingest observability data into Grafana Cloud, and visualize and explore it. Grafana Alloy is an open-source OpenTelemetry Collector distribution with built-in Prometheus pipelines.

The role involves collaborating with the Alloy team to deliver new functionality, contributing to design documents, and actively participating in the OpenTelemetry collector community. The engineer will also support customers, work with other Grafana teams, and participate in on-call rotations.

What will this role involve:

• Working with the Alloy team to deliver new functionality
• Contributing to and reviewing design documents for upcoming features
• Being an active member of the OpenTelemetry collector community
• Being familiar with the Prometheus ecosystem and ensuring Alloy integrates well with Prometheus components
• Supporting customers and prospects with setting up their observability pipelines
• Working with other teams within Grafana to make sure Alloy works well with the solutions they are building
• Participating in on-call rotations for our deployments

Requirements:

• A passion for observability
• Excellent communication skills
• Relevant open source experience, ideally in OpenTelemetry or Prometheus
• Willingness to become an active member of the OpenTelemetry community
• A good understanding of production environments
