Senior Java Developer

Job Description

Smartling is looking for a creative and passionate Senior Java Developer to join their team. This is a contract position that can be performed remotely in Europe. The Senior Java Developer will work on cutting-edge, highly interactive, service-driven applications. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn, experiment, and apply the latest engineering techniques to build scalable and high-performing services.

The Senior Java Developer will be part of the team building and maintaining a translation management application that allows Smartling's clients and professional translators to manage the localization process for their websites and documents in an agile manner.

The role involves:

• Developing and maintaining efficient, scalable code and infrastructure.
• Innovating and implementing new features.
• Monitoring and analyzing application metrics.
• Fine-tuning services and databases.
• Performing architecture and code reviews.
• Continuously improving technologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Proficiency in designing and building APIs using HTTP and REST.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience with AWS, Linux, and server-side development.
• Understanding of distributed computing principles and algorithms.
• Familiarity with asynchronous patterns and messaging technologies.
• Expertise in Design Patterns for scalable, stable systems.
• Open to adopting modern approaches to efficient development, including AI tools.
• Upper-Intermediate spoken English.
