Principal Software Development Engineer at Zscaler

Zscaler is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to join their Cloud Browser Isolation team. This role involves designing and implementing automation tools for customer rollouts, focusing on minimizing maintenance and error-prone tasks. The engineer will also implement tools to increase developer productivity and advocate for DevOps within engineering teams.

The Principal Software Development Engineer will work closely with QA and Engineering to design and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with business requirements. They will participate in all phases of product development, contributing to the evolution of infrastructure, and engage in post-mortem discussions and capacity planning to identify areas for improvement in automation and error reporting.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing automation tools for deployment/upgrade of customer rollouts
• Implementing tools and automation to increase developer productivity
• Working closely with QA and Engineering to design and implement infrastructure solutions
• Participating in post-mortem operations discussions and capacity planning exercises

Requirements:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a tech lead/staff/principal role
• Experience coding in GoLang, Java, or Rust, with intermediate experience in Python and Bash
• Expertise in backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures
• Intermediate to advanced level experience with at least one public cloud platform (AWS preferred)
• Intermediate to advanced level experience with Linux Operating System and CI & Build tools
