Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

SimpliSafe is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation security systems. This role involves integrating hardware, software, and firmware components to enhance the SimpliSafe ecosystem. The Senior Electrical Engineer will contribute to system architecture, component selection, schematic capture, layout, and hardware bring-up.SimpliSafe embraces a hybrid work model, requiring teams to be in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the flexibility to work remotely the rest of the week.What this role involves:

• Leading concept development and design of electrical systems.
• Analyzing cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (ME, systems engineering, AI/ML, industrial design, and product management).
• Driving product development from concept to production.
• Overseeing prototype development and testing.
• Leading design reviews and working with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Staying current with emerging technologies and manufacturing processes.
• Influencing product roadmaps.
• Mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s a plus).
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 4 years working on consumer products.
• Strong schematic capture and PCB layout experience.
• Experience in embedded systems design (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, SDIO, MIPI, etc.).
• Comfort with embedded firmware (C, C++, Rust, etc.) and proficiency with Python.
• Experience with RF technologies (Sub-GHz, WiFi, and BLE).
• Knowledge of high-speed rules and PCB stackups.
• Experience optimizing designs for low power usage.
• Proven experience leading the design and development of complex systems.
• Experience working with product management, global suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
• Strong communication, EQ, and leadership skills.
• Startup experience is valued.
