Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is seeking a Software Engineer (Android) to join their Fulfilment Mobile team. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, and refining new features.
  • Locating and resolving bugs and crashes.
  • Brainstorming new ideas and concepts.
  • Collaborating with teammates on design, code reviews, and estimation.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science or Engineering with a minimum of 3 years experience in a software development role, or a minimum of 6 years experience in a software development role.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in native Android (preferably using Android Studio).
  • A full understanding of the Android application and activity lifecycles.
  • An appreciation of Android-specific asynchronous processing techniques and user experience design patterns.
