takealot.com is seeking a highly talented Outbound Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of all warehousing functions in the Outbound area. This includes ensuring efficient inventory management, picking, packing, staging, and handover/dispatching of stock.

The Outbound Manager will collaborate with other departments to coordinate outbound activities and ensure timely delivery of goods to customers. They will also be responsible for process and operational improvements, strategic reviews of departmental KPIs, and daily, weekly, and monthly commercial reporting management.

The role involves:

  • Overall management and coordination of all warehousing function in the Outbound area.
  • Ensuring returned damaged stock is processed and ready for collection on time.
  • Introducing and maintaining daily productivity metrics.
  • Collaborating with other departments to coordinate outbound activities.
  • Process and operational improvements within the return to supplier function.
  • Strategic reviews of departmental KPIs and SLAs.
  • Daily, weekly & monthly commercial reporting management.
  • Optimizing all workflow activities within the different stakeholders and departments.
  • Collaborating with line managers to identify staff training and development needs.
  • Demonstrate, train, and enforce Operational “Best Practices”.
  • Manage performance with all staff within the department.
  • Train and support the understanding of operational KPIs.
  • Working on ad hoc projects and events.
  • Preparation of management reports.
  • Collaborating with project and operations managers.

Requirements include:

  • Tertiary qualification / Diploma preferred in Logistics/Operations Management/ Supply Chain Management / Engineering or Business/Commerce.
  • 3 - 5 years field experience in operations.
  • Experience in the management of stock.
  • Strong People management.
  • Full understanding of a WMS, application, troubleshooting, and reporting dashboards.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in management role in operations.
