Job Description
Astera Labs is seeking a Principal PCIe/Ethernet Electrical Validation Engineer. This role involves developing and executing electrical validation tests to assess parametric device performance and margins. The validation team ensures that the product conforms to customer requirements.

The Principal PCIe/Ethernet Electrical Validation Engineer will work on connectivity products for AI and Machine Learning applications. He will formulate validation plans, automate IC and board testing, design experiments to root-cause issues, and report results. The engineer will also ensure specification compliance and quantify margins to ensure product robustness.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute electrical validation tests.
  • Automate the testing of ICs and board products.
  • Design experiments to root-cause unexpected behavior.
  • Report results and specification compliance.
  • Work with key internal customers to quantify margins.

Requirements:
  • Strong academic background in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Bachelor’s minimum, Master’s preferred).
  • ≥8 years of experience supporting or developing complex SoC/silicon products.
  • Experience leading SoC Debug and development for high-speed interfaces such as PCIe/802.3 Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with PCIe or Ethernet, especially Electrical Compliance sections.
  • Working knowledge of high-speed design blocks such as PLL’s, DFE, Tx EQ, PAM4.
  • Experience in system testing, characterization, margin analysis, and optimization of high-speed PCIe/CXL data links.
  • Strong Python scripting ability with knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  • Deep background in developing bench automation techniques.
  • Proficiency using high-speed lab equipment such as BERT, Oscilloscope, and VNA.
