Senior Software Engineer, Backend (ML Platform)

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their ML Platform team. This role involves building the core infrastructure that powers Affirm's intelligence, particularly the compute platform for training and serving machine learning models. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering quarterly goals, leading engineers, and collaborating with product management and other teams.

• Owning and delivering quarterly goals.
• Leading engineers to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborating with product management, design & analytics
• Identifying and solving project, process, technology or business issues.
• Supporting the operations and availability of team artifacts.
• Fostering a culture of quality and ownership.
• Mentoring team members

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for significant feature delivery.
• Proficiency in making changes in a large codebase.
• Strong communication skills.
