Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Platform at Affirm

Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Infrastructure Platform Engineering team. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability, availability, and operational efficiency of Affirm’s distributed systems. As part of the Platform, Reliability and Infrastructure Operations group, the engineer will work on proactive failure mitigation, operational tooling, service scaling strategies, and on-call effectiveness.

What the role involves:

• Owning and delivering quarterly goals for the team.
• Leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborating with product management, design & analytics in the product development lifecycle.
• Proactively identifying project, process, technology, or business issues and leading in solving them.
• Supporting the operations and availability of team artifacts.
• Fostering a culture of quality and ownership on the team.
• Helping develop talent by providing feedback and guidance.
• Participating in an on-call rotation.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience in designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Experience in ensuring high availability (HA) and resilience of critical services.
• Experience in automate operational tasks, deployments, failover processes, and scaling strategies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
