Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Platform at Affirm

Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Infrastructure Platform Engineering team. This role is focused on ensuring the reliability, availability, and operational efficiency of Affirm’s distributed systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in highly scalable, cloud-native environments, emphasizing incident response, observability, automation, and system resilience. This role is part of the Platform, Reliability and Infrastructure Operations group.

Role involves:

• Delivering quarterly goals for the team and leading engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborating with product management, design, and analytics to make informed decisions.
• Identifying and solving project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Supporting the operations and availability of team artifacts.
• Fostering a culture of quality and ownership through code review and design standards.
• Developing talent by providing feedback and guidance.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Proficiency in making significant code changes in a large codebase.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with a global engineering team.
