Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Backend development to join their Fraud Ops and Compliance Tools team. This role is fully remote in Poland and involves close collaboration with US stakeholders. The team's mission is to empower operations and compliance organizations by building tools that help identify, mitigate, and report fraudulent and suspicious activity.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for owning and delivering quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring everyone is supported throughout delivery. They will work cross-functionally with colleagues in various teams to execute the financial crimes mitigation strategy and improve Fraud Operations efficiency.
What this role involves:
- Writing high-quality code in Python.
- Building APIs and workflows within micro-service and event-driven architectures.
- Collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
- Identifying and solving project, process, technology, or business issues.
- Supporting the operations and availability of the team’s artifacts.
- Fostering a culture of quality and ownership.
- Developing talent on the team.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
- A track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining a technical plan.
- Proficiency in making significant changes in a large code base.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
