Tide is seeking a highly experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join their Developer Experience team. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between product-focused engineering teams and the platform engineering team, focusing on automation, reducing friction, and enhancing the engineering experience at Tide.

The Staff Backend Engineer will play a leadership role in improving CI/CD pipelines, enhancing tooling, and championing best practices within Tide. They will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other teams to ensure that DevEx solutions meet the needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the improvement of Java and Python CI/CD pipelines.
  • Lead initiatives to improve tooling and reduce toil amongst developer teams.
  • Champion best practices in software development and agile ways of working.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers from different disciplines.
  • Work with other teams to ensure that DevEx solutions meet the needs of the business.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of Python, Java, or Go, with a desire to learn new languages.
  • Good working knowledge of API development, with web or mobile development experience a plus.
  • Automation skills including Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and EKS.
  • Experience working with containers.
  • A track record of mentoring junior engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
