Tide is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their Reliability, Security, and Technology Foundations team. This role focuses on improving and enabling the entire organization to build a more resilient platform with better monitoring and streamlined incident management. The engineer will work with Cloud and InfoSec to enhance platform resilience and observability.
Responsibilities include:
- Promoting ownership and collaboration across teams to ensure system reliability and accountability.
- Automating repetitive tasks like incident mitigation and database failover.
- Improving internal libraries to boost resilience across the organization.
- Driving observability approach using tooling and automation and helping teams manage their service statuses.
- Streamlining the incident management process and building tooling for it.
Tide is looking for someone who has:
- Passion for building resilient systems.
- Extensive experience building and operating distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Familiarity with observability tooling like Prometheus, ELK, Datadog, or Honeycomb.
- Experience designing fault-tolerant systems, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Experience with mobile/web platforms (bonus).
