Tide is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join its Reliability, Security, and Technology Foundations team. This role is based in Bulgaria and focuses on enhancing platform resilience, improving monitoring, and streamlining incident management.

The engineer will be responsible for promoting ownership and collaboration across teams, automating repetitive tasks, and driving observability improvements. They will also contribute to incident management streamlining and tooling.

Tide is looking for someone who has passion for building resilient systems and extensive experience building and operating distributed systems. The candidate must bring a depth of knowledge with programming languages, cloud computing platforms and technologies, and observability tooling.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote Ownership and Collaboration
  • Automate repetitive tasks
  • Improve internal libraries
  • Drive observability approach
  • Help to streamline the incident management process

Requirements:

  • Experience building and operating distributed systems
  • Knowledge with one or more of the following programming languages: Java (first choice) Python, Go, JavaScript
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and EKS
  • Familiarity with observability tooling like Prometheus, ELK, Datadog, Honeycomb or others
  • Familiarity with designing fault-tolerant systems, including SLIs, SLOs and error budgets
