Tide is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their Reliability, Security, and Technology Foundations team. The engineer will focus on improving platform resilience, enhancing monitoring, and streamlining incident management. Tide is a business management platform designed to save small businesses time and money. With over 1 million small businesses using it across the world, and offices in London, Sofia, Hyderabad, Delhi, Berlin and Belgrade, Tide employs over 2,000 employees.

The Staff Backend Engineer will contribute to building a more resilient platform and enabling the organization with better monitoring and incident management. They will work across teams to ensure system reliability and accountability, automate repetitive tasks, improve internal libraries, drive observability approaches, and help streamline the incident management process.

Requirements:

  • Passionate around building resilient systems
  • Extensive experience building and operating distributed systems
  • A depth of knowledge with one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Go, JavaScript
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and EKS
  • Familiarity with observability tooling like Prometheus, ELK, Datadog, Honeycomb or others
  • Familiarity with designing fault-tolerant systems, including SLIs, SLOs and error budgets
  • Experience with mobile/web platforms would be a huge bonus
