Senior Software Engineer, GraphQL

Job Description

Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its GraphQL team. The engineer will help develop the next generation of foundational GraphQL infrastructure, scale the solutions to support millions of users, and build tools for contributors to expand the GraphQL schema. This role involves working collaboratively within the team to maintain the platform for Reddit's GraphQL infrastructure.

The role involves:

• Creating and maintaining the platform for Reddit's GraphQL infrastructure.
• Designing, building, and delivering solutions to improve GraphQL's functionality, scalability, and efficiency.
• Investigating and tuning the platform operating at massive scale.
• Contributing feedback to the technical and strategic direction of the GraphQL platform.
• Guiding and supporting fellow engineers as a mentor and leader.
• Sharing on-call responsibilities.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems.
• Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages (preferably Go).
• Experience identifying and driving high impact projects that align with the company's strategy.
• Capability with essential cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, GCP).
• High empathy and excellent communication skills.
• GraphQL backend experience (a plus).
• Experience structuring and implementing complex data models (a plus).
