Senior Software Engineer, GraphQL

Job Description

Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its GraphQL team. This role will focus on developing and maintaining the foundational platform for Reddit's GraphQL infrastructure. The engineer will design, build, and deliver solutions to improve the functionality, scalability, and efficiency of GraphQL, investigating and tuning the platform's operation at scale.

Reddit is a community-driven platform built on shared interests and authentic conversations, hosting over 100,000 active communities and millions of daily active users. The GraphQL team's mission is to develop the next generation of foundational GraphQL infrastructure, scale solutions to support hundreds of millions of users, and build intuitive tools for contributors to create and expand the GraphQL schema.

Role involves:

• Collaborating with a team of software engineers.
• Designing, building, and delivering solutions for GraphQL.
• Investigating and tuning platform operations.
• Contributing to the technical and strategic direction of the GraphQL platform.
• Guiding and supporting fellow engineers.
• Sharing on-call responsibilities with the GraphQL team.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in large-scale distributed backend systems.
• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (preferably Go).
• Experience identifying and driving high-impact projects.
• Capability with cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, GCP).
• High empathy and excellent communication skills.
• Experience structuring and implementing complex data models is a plus.
