Gusto is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team and contribute to customer-facing products. The engineer will develop features and iterate across the platform to enhance the customer financial journey. Gusto's goal is to strengthen customers' financial wellness and deliver a consistently great experience across all products.

The role involves leading and growing projects from end-to-end, influencing initial feature specifications, building backend APIs, writing frontend code, and overseeing ongoing improvements for deployed features. The engineer will work on elegant software with far-reaching effects in our modern economy. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Responsibilities:

  • Build products that mitigate financial risk and prevent fraud.
  • Architect, implement, review, test, and iterate Gusto’s Fintech product suite.
  • Design highly scalable systems that drive business growth.
  • Build platforms for fraud signal collection and anomaly detection.
  • Drive processor agnostic 3rd party API integration.
  • Partner with product, data, finance, compliance, and operations to audit financial reconciliation and debt recovery.
  • Participate in daily “team times” for planning, pair programming, and collaboration.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of professional Software Engineering experience in dynamic languages such as Ruby on Rails, Java, Python, and PHP.
  • Experience with SaaS integrated technologies like Sidekiq, PostgreSQL, CI/CD and AWS etc on the cloud.
  • Independent and able to deliver production-ready code with high autonomy.
  • Desire to learn and grow on the job.
  • Focus on building with quality and rigor.
  • Must be physically located and eligible to work in Turkiye.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguous domains.
  • Willingness to timeshift for some overlap with US-based teammates.
